So Smith, of Jasper, Ind., bought the business and reopened it 16 months ago. Simply put, the Jasper couple saw a business opportunity. When the word hit Tell City streets that the Tell City Pretzel Co. was back in business after a 16-month hiatus, the small bakery on Washington Street became a mecca for pretzel lovers past to pay homage to those who refired the ovens.

08.03.09 - Tell City Pretzel Factory Reopens
Tell City – The assets of the Famous Tell City Pretzels, Co were recently acquired by Jasper residents
Brad and Sandy Smith. The bakery, located at 1315 Washington Street, Tell City, IN, produces
the World Famous Hand Twisted Tell City Pretzels. The pretzels are returning with their uniquely
delicious krunch that has delighted pretzel lovers for nearly 150 years. True to tradition, the
pretzels are hand twisted and baked the old fashion way. While people all over the world will be able
to once again purchase the pretzel and observe the baking of the pretzels, just as true to tradition, the
secret family recipe will remain a secret.
Pretzels are being distributed locally by Krodel Wholesale, Hwy 231, Jasper, IN, (812) 482-1762.
